Traditional Hallway

Light hallway

Keep a hallway light with white walls and minimal furniture. Add character through a patterned rug and colourful plants.

Large country hallway

This eclectic home mixes antiques with pretty fabrics to create traditional country style. The wooden floor has been painted with Potmolen paint, and the fabric for the covered chair is from Vanessa Arbuthnott. Antique furniture and pictures turn what could have been passing-through space into a cosy relaxing area.

Colourful hallway

Period furniture instantly feels contemporary when painted in delicious rosy shades. Simple fairy lights and candles bring a soft glow to the hallway, while the yellow lamp adds a zingy touch of vibrancy.

Classic hallway

Allow a classic floor to take centre stage in your hallway creating a dramatic first impression to your home. Relaxed seating keeps the look casual.

Georgian hallway

Warm cream-patterned Colefax & Fowler wallpaper reflects light, while original stone flags add texture. An 18th century coffer and other antique furniture and paintings from Guy Dennler Antiques create interest. An old wicker shopping trolley is filled with logs, an antique umbrella stand is decorative and useful. The open door frames the courtyard and a stone urn filled with lavender.

Cream hallway

Cream painted walls and a cream wool carpet from John Lewis create a spacious feel in this hallway. The floral design rug is from The Pier, and leads into the kitchen-diner, with stone flooring and a green dresser from Thomas & Thomas.

Bright traditional hallway

Brighten an awkwardly-shaped hallway with light, neutral shades. Here, a chair from The Dining Chair Company and two-drawer table from Scumble Goosie provide a comfortable seating and writing area. Cover a chair with floral fabric for a soft look.

Large square hallway

Make the most of a large hallway by using a simple table from The Conran Shop as a communal space to eat or simply left as a dramatic centrepiece. A comfortable Take 5 wing chair tucked discreetly under the stairs makes a cosy nook for phone calls, while the generously patterned Rug Company rug helps to create the feeling of a room.

Coastal hallway

This all-white hallway has coastal views and is accessorised with sea-themed ornaments. The basketweave chair has a natural look and helps to emulate the feel of a sunroom or conservatory, while offering a comfortable place to sit while talking on the phone. A hard-wearing rug complements the chair and is a good choice for a high-traffic area such as a hallway.

Soft grey hallway

Soft grey walls, with a hint of green, give this hallway a natural but classic feel. The dark wooden furniture adds warmth, while also being a practical storage solution.

Reception hallway

Soft, cool, Farrow & Ball paint accentuates original period features, like the fanlight above the front door which floods the room with light. Pale carpet and a sweeping staircase proved an elegant feel, and antique furniture from Tyson gives the space character.

Period style hallway

Vintage finds create an interesting display in this entrance hall, with a slim console table making the ideal spot for storing keys by the door. A stack of antique storage under the table creates a quirky feel, while an ornate mirror adds an elegant finish.

Light staircase

Discreet low-level lighting gently illuminates this staircase at night. Artworks on the crisp white walls adds interest along the stairs.

Vintage hallway

The fretwork in the hallway, painted in pale grey, adds a dramatic touch in what can be a transitory space. The chandelier completes the look.

Eclectic hallway

Unusual pieces like the half-painted console table and large palm lamp create a quirky feel in this hallway. Classic floral wallpapered panelling adds colour to the white scheme, and is teamed with an antique-style chair and rich wooden flooring.

Grand traditional hallway

A sophisticated console table, handsome chair, wall sconces and statement mirror set the tone in this grand entrace to a city townhouse.

Classic monochrome hallway

White and black is a striking palette for a hallway. The elegant furniture gives it a classic feel, while the wooden floor keeps it from becoming cold.
