Open-plan dining room
In an open-plan room which has both a living and dining area, try visually zoning the room by wallpapering the wall nearest the dining table. Choose a pattern that includes colours from both parts of the room to tie the room together.
Retro dining room
For a retro feel, go for bold geometric wallpaper that is confident and distinctive. Emphasise the design of the wallpaper with shapes that echo the pattern, such as a clock and a pendant light, and stick to a pale tone so the wooden features stand out.
Striped dining room
For a bold and quirky dining room choose striking red and white striped wallpaper and repeat the pattern on the chair covers and lamp shade for impact. Furniture in contrasting colours, such as yellow, will heighten the wow factor, and eye-catching mirrors and accessories will continue the interest around the rest of the room.
Monochrome kitchen-diner
Kitchen-diners can be tricky to decorate, so consider decorating them as you would a stand-alone dining room. Add wallpaper behind the units so the kitchen area is integrated into the rest of the room. Sticking to a monochrome scheme will work well with white kitchen units, while accents of bright red will tie the cooking and eating area together.
Dining room panelled wall
Wallpapering an entire dining room with a highly patterned paper can be overwhelming, so try decorating a panel of wall for a quieter but equally eye-catching effect. Continue the colours of the wallpaper around the room and onto the table setting, chair covers and window dressing for a co-ordinated look.
Dining room feature wall
For a unique look, use oversized photographic images on wallpaper panels to create a stunning feature wall.Blue and white dining room
If you're using a boldly patterned wallpaper on one wall, keep the rest of the scheme simple by using just two or three colours that complement the pattern. Paint the rest of the walls stark white so the pattern stands out, and opt for pared-down dining furniture that blends into the scheme.
Black and white dining room
If you'd like to create a formal dining room, you can't go wrong with a striking black and white scheme. An elegant black wallpaper will set the scene and create a atmospheric mood, while stark white accessories add a contemporary touch.
Pink dining room
Break the mould and wallpaper your dining room with stripes that circle the room horizontally. Make the look even more striking by adding vertical stripes at the window and a pink rug under the table.
Dining room dresser
Create a focal point on a plain wall by using a panel of patterned wallpaper behind a dresser and add floating shelves above to display interesting accessories.
