Kitchen clock
After careful planning, the kitchen in this Victorian home was transformed by the owners. By taking down walls, creating a open-plan area, and even recessing a range cooker into the existing chimney breast, they have created a stunning and sociable room.
Island and bookshelves
This kitchen island houses a sink unit and plenty of storage, keeping the worktops free from clutter. A chic combination of creamy cabinetry and coffee-coloured units helps the kitchen feel warm and cosy. For added interest in the corner of the room, a trio of floating bookshelves offers a contemporary twist on a traditional dresser.
Breakfast bar and ovens
A simple breakfast bar sits at the far end of the kitchen island. The worktop is made from Raffia Corian, with an accented raised section in chesnut laminate, complemented by sleek bar stools.
Island bottle storage
A smart drinks cabinet and storage area sits at one end of the kitchen island, making it great for entertaining. Frosted glass doors allow the bottles to be partially displayed. The position of the workstation in the centre of the room allows the owners to be part of the fun while they cook.
Oven and microwave
In addition to the cappuccino units, vanilla cabinetry houses all the built-in cooking appliances. The sleek handleless design is echoed by the symmetrical layout of the ovens. The convenience of having a conventional oven means that they can switch their AGA off during the summer months to save energy.
Range cooker
A four-oven electric range cooker sits in the recess of the existing chimney breast. Its pewter black finish was chosen to contrast with the pale shade of the furniture in the kitchen. A rich red, glass splashback sits behind the cooker adding a glossy flash of colour.
