Sweet Traditional Bedroom

Luxury bedroom

The luxurious style in this bedroom can be really seen with a faux-suede upholstered bed from Silentnight, combined with rich neutral coloured walls and designer touches, with side tables from Andrew Martin. The fake-fur throw adds texture to the room, along with the suede cushions.

Patterned bedroom

A single-colour palette allows for greater scope when using pattern, as illustrated here in this Dormy House headboard in Les Indiennes fabric and a coordinating bedspread from Lewis & Wood. Mix the scale of the designs and add co-ordinating accessories like the Brigitte Singh blind and Ursula Leach painting to unify the scheme.

Bedroom with feature wallpaper

Make a statement with a focus wall of beautiful wallpaper. This works particularly well behind a bed, as with this Golden Beech Leaves wallpaper by Loui Loui from House Couturier. The bed, whose autumn shades mirror the wallpaper, came from Savoir Beds and Sera lamp and shade from CTO Lighting.

Soft bedroom lighting

Create a relaxing atmosphere with soft lighting. This room uses a space-saving wall-mounted lamp with a decorative shade from Rogier Antiques. The Judy Greenwood bedside cupboard displays favourite objects including a Sophie Cook teardrop vessel. The bed, which has an upholstered headboard, is dressed with white linen, a chunky knit throw from House Of Fraser and a red cushion.

Blue and white bedroom

Create a tranquil mood in the bedroom with soft blue walls, layers of luxurious Jane Sacchi lace-trimmed bedlinen, and indigo curtains from Turnell & Gigon lined in a crisp floral fabric. A striped rug provides more pattern contrast, a cube wall light adds a modern touch.

Blue and cream bedroom

An antique chair, covered in fabric from Ralph Lauren, adds a formal touch to this modern bedroom styled in calming shades of cream and blue ? colours which are echoed in The White Company bedlinen.

Relaxed monochrome bedroom

Keeping colours soft and neutral, with only a couple of shots of black for sophistication, creates a relaxed look. Baskets under the bed provide additional storage.

Oatmeal bedroom

This headboard, which is made from MDF and covered in fabric, is an inexpensive way to pull focus to a bed. The floral wallpaper, in neutral florals, is a stunning backdrop and adds another dimension to the look.

Master bedroom with four-poster bed

A cherrywood four-poster bed with linen curtains from The Conran Shop is the focal point of this soothing bedroom retreat. A Japanese mirror and a vintage bedside console table, both from the Portobello Road market, add further character to the room.

Traditional country bedroom

Farrow & Ball-painted walls enhance a headboard upholstered in a Colefax & Fowler cream and green print. White pillows and an antique bedcover add freshness. Aqua-tinted curtains frame a contrasting blue and white chair. A cabinet displays a lamp and roses, a mirror and prints decorate the walls.

Antique bedroom

This bedroom is dominated by a wrought iron bed sourced from Hungerford Arcade, a local antique centre, which creates a traditional theme for the room. This is complemented by a checked throw from Drakes and matching grey and white checked blinds.

New England-style blue bedroom

This bedroom uses a backdrop of cornflower blue on the walls, with paint from Dulux. This is mixed with a painted bed frame from Feather & Black and cream duvet cover and pillows from Empire. The overall feel, has a soothing New England style.

Blue bedroom

This bedroom has a clean, unfussy feel, with white-painted furniture from MFI which contrasts well with the light blue walls. This look is completed with a stunning throw from House of Fraser.

Vintage needlework bedroom

Antique styles of needlework in ivory, leaf and rose with subtle French knots and pintucks for texture create a pretty room. Pink walls, a patterned floral rug from The Rug Company, Leporello canopied bed and French-style furniture add romance. A Mark Maynard armoire provides elegant storage, a chandelier and gilded mirror are glamorous touches.

Light bedroom

This bedroom is light and airy. The room is painted a simple white with a vintage bed from Mark Maynard antiques. This is complemented by a dark-wood chest and fresh neutral coloured bed linen.

Dainty bedroom

The classic design of chinoiserie has a trailing flower pattern, and has been used to great effect on this Laura Ashley wallpaper. The design is also very effective on the mirror design. Team it with fresh linen and pretty pastel coloured furniture.

Feminine bedroom

For a feminine style, layer your bed with voile and lace. The impressive four-poster bed is from House of Fraser, set off by drapes from and a lace panel from Laura Ashley. The butterfly cushion is set against a duvet cover and pillowcases from Next.

Bedroom teaming browns with limes

Mix bitter chocolate with soft cream in a bedroom for a classic look that's freshened by splashes of lime. The dark wood bedstead and bedside chest of drawers from New Heights set the theme off nicely. Other chocolate notes are picked up in the brown throw from The White Company, while the lime accent colour comes from the curtains and cushions made from Jane Churchill fabric. Reflections from the mirror-fronted chest of drawers from Next add brightness to the room.

Bold floral bedroom

Brighten up your bedroom with sunny colours and fabrics covered in bouquets of beautiful roses, then choose warm wood to complement the soft yellows and creams of the walls.

French-style bedroom

A chandelier hangs over the bed, bringing a decorative touch to the room. The French-style bed adds a touch of grandeur, while the wall mural completes the look. Shutters diffuse the light.

Bedroom with frame feature wall

Framed family photographs form an interesting display over the bed. Choose black and white images and then exhibit them in different styles of frame- this will add a touch of quirkiness to the show.

Warm cream bedroom

Floor-to-ceiling windows create a light and sunny feel to this master bedroom. The warm eggshell walls match the double bed and are partnered with accents of fiery red and orange. Traditional accessories add the finishing touches.

Oriental-style bedroom

The blossom motif takes centre stage in this bedroom with matching upholstered headboards and the design repeated on the bed linen. A palette of cool jade on the walls and floor teamed with pomegranate fabrics helps to create a feminine feel. A vertical row of oriental fans displayed on the wall finishes off the scheme.

Bedroom with sleigh bed

Crisp white bedlinen contrasts with the warm wooden furniture and sleigh bed. The classical paintings give this room a traditional feel.

Gold bedroom

Luxurious bedlinen and gold accessories are teamed with polished wood to create an inviting feel.

Neutral bedroom

Neutral colours dominate here, as seen in the bedspread and the subtle floral wallpaper. Textured throws and cushions add extra interest and the white wicker basket at the foot of the bed provides handy storage.

Blue bedroom

Neutral coir carpets balance the patterned Laura Ashley wallpaper, and TK Maxx bedding perfectly merges two colours. A large basket at the foot of the bed is a softer alternative to a wooden trunk.

Serene bedroom

Pastel colours and delicate patterns give this bedroom a serene vibe. Textures and a shot of strong colour stop the room from becoming cold.
